Through the winter months, the ground outside is covered in snow or too frozen for any gardening. Having an indoor space for plants is wonderful. This space originally had two chairs, a small table and reading lamp. Over the last years, the plants have taken over most of the space. The crotons with their coloured leaves remind me of dad’s garden in Mumbai.

The plants hanging, above the crotons, are a reminder of my mother-in-law’s home where she had plants like these in the balcony. The table with the tiled top is one of our DIY projects.

Now that we are going into February it is time to start up with seedlings for this summer. Last year, the winter arrived before my chilli plants gave any fruit. So this year the first seedlings are chilli seeds.
