Based on my self-imposed diet, I avoid white sugar, packaged snacks and ultra-processed foods. This also includes energy bars and similar foods that are a good go-to when hungry.
I tasted these when we were travelling in South Africa and decided to try making them. They turned out really great! Hope you will enjoy them too.

Ingredients
120 gms dates
50 gms almonds
1-2 dl dessicated coconut – for the mix
1-2 tbsp coconut oil
2 – 3 tbsp desiccated coconut – for rolling
Putting it together
Chop the dates and almonds.
Use a food processor to chop and blend the dates, dessicated coconut and almonds until fine but be careful not to over blend it to a paste. The mixture should have small pieces of date and almonds.
Move the mixture to a bowl and knead together with the coconut oil to form a dough.
Roll into small balls, (approximately 15) and coat them in desiccated coconut.
Store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
