Four years and time to reflect

It’s been a wonderful summer and I am now back to work and my daily routine. This year, my husband and I took three weeks off, and travelled for one of these weeks. It was amazing spending time together with our sons and their partners in Slovakia.

We did a hike in the Tatra mountains – from the ski lift terminal at Tatranská Lomnica to the funicular terminal at Hrebienok , ca. 6.5 km. It took me a couple of hours but completing the hike was an accomplishment for me. By the end of the week in Slovakia, I noticed that I was tired, but the sightseeing and walking trips together were energizing!

Back in Oslo, it was time for forest bathing (walks in the forest), a couple of trips to local museums, and my next round of treatment. I am extremely blessed to have such an amazing team of medical staff – doctors and nurses, caring for me and the other lung cancer patients.

Today is 4 years since my diagnosis. Over the next months, I hope to represent the Lung cancer association in Norway at the Lung cancer Europe meeting. Working together, we can increase awareness about lung cancer symptoms and hopefully help patients get access to more personalised treatment. This fall, I will join the patient advisory board for IDERHA – a European health data project focused on lung cancer, allowing me to apply my professional experience to data projects within the health and lung cancer space.

I have a lot to be thankful for, most importantly my family, friends, and my health. Looking forward to the year ahead and many more wonderful experiences together.
