It has been over 3 years of immunotherapy and a few rounds of radiation, and the time has come when the treatment does not seem to help any longer. A turning point, that is intimidating at first. I need to remind myself that this is a fact when living with cancer. One can only keep moving forward and facing whatever comes along. I have so much to look forward to.
After a few blood tests, a biopsy and CT scan, the team has now decided on the way forward. I have signed up to a clinical trial at the hospital. I am hoping the biopsy results will offer me a more targeted therapy later but for now chemotherapy is the way forward, starting tomorrow.
I have a set of pre-medications to take and have noted down all the emergency contact numbers and vitals to be monitored as I set off on this journey. My husband attends the doctor’s appointments with me. I may need to depend on him a bit more as I navigate the next months. Hoping the side effects of this treatment are manageable and that the treatment helps to stabilise things before it is time to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
Looking forward to 2026!
