It’s been two weeks since my first round of chemotherapy. I had time to read through the literature I was given at the hospital and met with my doctor and later with a nurse that will follow my treatment.
The first few days after chemo, I was extremely tired and felt like going back to bed right after I had got up in the morning. I took to listening to audio books and music to keep me going for a few hours before heading back into bed. Cooking and the home was left to my husband, who juggled both home and work.
After a couple of days, I decided to start yoga, first just 15 minutes of breathing exercises and the next day an additional 15 minutes of stretching. I have managed to keep this daily routine and am feeling a lot stronger and better as the days go. Thankfully, I have not felt too many of the other side effects I read about. I can only hope that my body continues to cope with the next rounds of chemo.
I decided to sign up to a clinical study in Norway. Hopefully, this will give me access to medications that are not yet part of the ‘approved’ treatment, if necessary, but additionally, my tests and clinical data will help clinicians understand the mutations and medications for future patients.
Getting ready for round two of chemo next week, but in the meantime I am looking forward to family time, visiting a Christmas market and making sorpotel together.
