One of the nicest gardens in Oslo is located close to home and though I have visited the garden and museum shop a few times over the years, I have not managed to join the guided tours arranged here.

This year, we managed to get tickets to attend the Christmas tour at the manor. Walking through rooms decked for the holidays with a Christmas tree, a tables set for dinner and coffee and Christmas cookies, we were met by actors singing traditional Norwegian Christmas songs and sharing tales from life at the manor in the 1800’s. We met the ‘owner’ of the manor, women sewing and making lace and maids decorating the manor for Christmas.
A lovely way to get into the Christmas mood!
