As I mentioned in my last post, I have just completed my NGS and the search for a possible targeted treatment has started.
The Norwegian Cancer Society (https://kreftforeningen.no/) supports cancer patients and research and innovation in cancer treatments. This year the focus is on the need for NGS testing to enable earlier targeted treatments for cancer patients.
The survival rate for cancer patients in Norway today is 3 of 4, however the survival rate for lung cancer patients is a lot lower. This is often due to delays in diagnosis leading to palliative care rather than surgery or a cure. Living with lung cancer can be amazing! One appreciates life and what is most important in a completely new way.
As a patient advocate, I chose to support the Cancer Society’s fund raiser for 2026 by sharing my story in the local newspaper. I hope that together we can raise awareness regarding the need for research, NGS tests and the use of targeted therapy. The support and love I have received after sharing my story, from family and friends around the world, has been wonderful and extremely encouraging.
Hopeful for what tomorrow brings.
