Summer holidays in Norway

In April, I developed a condition called pneumothorax, where the lung cavity is punctured causing air to collect. I was unable to travel by air, since the low air pressure on a flight could result in further damage or a collapse of the lung.

As a result, we spent our summer in Norway, with a few trips to places around Oslo. The weather during the summer was quite warm and dry so getting around was a lot easier. We did a trip to the Kongsberg silver mines and the cobalt mines at Blaafarveverket and spent a few days around Geilo, visiting waterfalls and some charming farms in the area.

In addition to the usual flowering plants and garlic, I planted aubergines for the first time this year. It’s been fun ensuring that the flowers are pollinated, using a cotton swab. For now, we seem to have a couple of promising small aubergines on the plants. The red currant, black currant and black berry bushes have done well with the warm weather.

I got to spend some time babysitting my grandson, going for a walk or a quick meal together. It is absolute joy to spend time with him, watching him grow up and try new things. Probably the best days of the summer were spent together with our sons, their partners and our grandson, at a cabin by the fjord. An idyllic place in every way! ♥️

Stopping along the way for a waffle with brown cheese was an absolute treat 🙂
